The Government’s new NHS Trust league tables for England have been published for the first time. Trusts will be ranked every 3 months. The top performing trusts will be given more power over how they spend their money and those lower down the league table will be encouraged to learn from the best trusts and receive support from national officials.

There are 3 separate league tables:

Acute trust league table

Acute trust means an NHS organisation that manages hospitals or services focused on short-term and often urgent medical care, such as surgeries, emergencies or serious illnesses.

  • Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust who runs our local Royal Berkshire Hospital, Townlands Hospital in Henley‑on‑Thames, Bracknell Healthspace and The Prince Charles Eye Unit in Windsor is ranked 34 out of 134 acute trusts.

Non-acute trust league table

  • Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust who runs community and mental health services including Wokingham Hospital, Prospect Park and more than 100 other different sites across Berkshire, is ranked 3 out of 61 non-accute trusts.

NHS ambulance trust league table

NHS ambulance trust means NHS organisations that are responsible for providing emergency and non-emergency ambulance services within different areas of England. They provide services including emergency response, patient transport for patients who need to attend medical appointments but can't travel by themselves due to medical reasons. Some trusts also manage the NHS 111 telephone service, offering medical advice and support, as well as, specialist services such as air ambulance.

  • South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust manages our local services, which include 999 emergency response and NHS111 (urgent care and medical advice) is ranked 8 out of 10 NHS ambulance trusts.
