The NHS has announced its winter vaccination programme for flu, COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), for children, pregnant women, and adults.

The NHS will be sending out millions of invitations this month (September 2025) to remind eligible people to come forward as soon as they can, but you do not need to wait for an invitation to book your vaccine. Those eligible can book quickly and easily on the NHS website, NHS App or by calling 119.

  • COVID-19 vaccinations are available until 31 January 2026.

  • Flu jabs are available until the end of March 2026.

We have pulled together all the information you need to know:

Flu vaccines for children

Flu vaccines help protect children and stop them from spreading it to others, like grandparents.

  • Children aged 2–16 years are eligible for a free flu vaccine.

  • New this year: Some nurseries will offer vaccines to 2–3-year-olds.

  • Most school-age children will be vaccinated at school.

  • Missed it? Parents can book appointments via their GP or community clinics.

Vaccines for pregnant women

  • Pregnant women can now get the flu vaccine during routine maternity appointments, at GPs, or at pharmacies.

  • Vaccines for flu, whooping cough, and RSV are safe and recommended during pregnancy.

  • From 28 weeks, pregnant women can also get the RSV vaccine to protect newborns from respiratory illnesses.

Vaccines for adults

From 1 October 2025, these groups are eligible:

  • Adults 65+

  • Adults 18–64 in clinical risk groups

  • Carers, care home residents, frontline social care staff, and close contacts of immunosuppressed individuals

Covid-19 vaccine eligibility

From 1 October 2025, eligible groups include:

  • Adults 75+

  • Older adult care home residents

  • Anyone 6 months+ who is immunosuppressed

  • Flu and COVID-19 vaccines may be offered together in one appointment.
