To ensure we are all doing our part to protect ourselves and those around us, it’s important that we test for Covid-19. Tests are widely available throughout the borough to collect at test centres, pharmacies, or order online. The two main tests used for Covid-19 are:
- PCR test (Polymerase Chain Reaction) – for people with symptoms, with swabs sent to a lab to get results
- Rapid Lateral Flow Test (LFT) – for people without symptoms, providing results in under 30 minutes
It’s important to get tested even if you are asymptomatic because 1 in 3 people with Covid-19 do not have symptoms but can still infect other people.
To find out where you can collect rapid lateral flow tests in the borough, visit Wokingham Council Covid-19 testing webpage where you can see a list of test centres and opening times. If you have symptoms, you should book a PCR test on the Gov.uk website – either to be sent to your home or for an appointment at a walk-in or drive-through site.
The video below demonstrates how you do the Lateral Flow Test. Below that is a video for those who are Deaf or hard of hearing. The following link provides instructions in different languages.
