Covid Vaccine - Where and When Will I Get My Vaccine

GPs across Wokingham Borough and the mass vaccination site at the Madjeski Stadium in Reading have begun vaccinating people against Covid 19, starting with elderly residents and front line health workers. Details of where this will take place are below
People are asked not to contact their GP surgery so that their practice team can focus on arranging the vaccinations, You will be contacted when it is your turn to receive the vaccine.
Healthwatch is unable to provide any specific information about when you will be invited for your vaccination
Vaccinations will not be given at every GP surgery. GP surgeries come under something called Primary Care Networks (PCN). One surgery in each PCN has been chosen to provide vaccinations for all the patients of the other surgeries in that PCN .
There were various reasons for this including logistics but importantly the chosen venues must be able to provide enough space for social distancing and also have room to let patients wait for 15 minutes after their injections to check they don't have severe allergic reactions. In some areas the vaccinations are not given at a surgery but in a community space that meets the safety requirements mentioned

When will I get the vaccine
The vaccine will be offered more widely, and at other locations, as soon as possible.
The order in which people will be offered the vaccine is based on advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

The vaccine has met strict standards of safety, quality and effectiveness set out by the independent Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
Other vaccines are being developed. They will only be available on the NHS once they have been thoroughly tested to make sure they are safe and effective.
